Palomino (La Guajira) has become an amazing travel destination in Colombia. - Do You know why? Because of its beautiful beaches, rivers, landscapes, food and relaxing atmosphere.
If you are looking for a relaxed and chilled atmosphere with likeminded travelers, Palomino is the place to be.
Palomino is located in the north of Colombia, in the Guajira state which is between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Caribbean Sea. Its people are a mix of; Caribbeans, Sierra Nevada’s indigenous tribes such as Kogi, Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kankuano, Colombians of all different regions along with people from around the globe.
¿How to get from Cartagena?
From Cartagena to Palomino. The best way to get transportation is from Cartagena’s bus terminal. There you will find all sorts of bus companies.
The best companies in the market are; Brasilia and Copetran. The key is to buy a ticket from Cartagena to Riohacha and get off in Palomino. The price for this trip is around $35.000 COP.
Another good option is the Marsol company which goes directly to Palomino. It’s a 5 hour trip by the Caribbean road along the sea.

¿How to get from Santa Marta?
From Santa Marta to Palomino. You can find the buses to Palomino at three different locations in the city.
The first one is “Mercado Central” – Central Market, located on 10th street – “Calle 10”. Buses are painted in blue and green, you will see them at the entrance of the main building, and you will notice people shouting "Parque Tayrona, Palomino” – Tayrona Park, Palomino.
The second option is go to a place call Mamatoco, this is a bus stop located at the exit to Riohacha.
The third option is the (Santa Marta’s bus terminal). It’s about a 2 hour trip where you will enjoy the nature and small towns along the way. The average price is $10.000 COP.
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beach, Palomino is your perfect spot.
¿How to get from Riohacha?
From Riohacha to Palomino, you must go to Rioacha’s bus terminal. There you will find buses with Palomino’s destination. It’s about a one and a half hour trip.

Finally, when you arrive in Palomino, put in your phone the Aloha Palomino Hostel, “carrera 6a” (6a street) or “via a la playa” or ask one of our friendly local to point you in the direction.
To get to Aloha Palomino Hostel, you will need to go off the main road to carrera 6a (which is the street walking towards the beach). Our hostel is five blocks on the way to the beach.
